Context & Background
Prior to this contest, a group of innovation students conducted qualitative interviews and did some background research. In order to receive more defined suggestions from the community, we want to share the insights.
Insights from the interviews
The innovation experts from university of Innsbruck have conducted qualitative interviews from mid October 2022 to early November 2022, where the focus, laid on finding answers on how to promote an active lifestyle among young people. The average length of interviews was around 20 minutes, and a total 77 participants were interviewed. As the target group is young teenagers aged 14 to 20, the mean age was 18.74 years.
Following are the outcomes of said research.
Main priorities in life
- Going to the gym is trendy and widely considered to work on physical appearance
- Friends play a big role of the Involvement in free time activities
- Sport is important for the mental and physical health
- Studying for school or university is a major reason why people struggle to do sports on a regular basis
Current feelings about physical activities
- High costs keep people away from signing up and practicing sport
- Joint activities making fun are important
- Events and sport-competitions are a good incentive to do more sports
What are the respondents' views on esports?
- Video games do not impact their time for sports practicing
- Range of respondents level from no video games to every evening
- Sports and gaming are perceived as two different hobbies
The impact of COVID-19
- During the lockdown phases, sports were neglected
- Since the “hard lockdowns” sport activities are back on a similar level as it has been before
- Some found new ways to do sports, like home workouts. Others stopped their physical activities.
Vision/Mission of Lebensraum Tirol
Future challenges of the province of Tyrol require joint and targeted action. Our goal is to initiate and accompany cooperations for the sustainable development of the province of Tyrol into a successful business, science, work, culture, and tourism location.
By networking innovative Tyrolean actors, existing forces can be decisively bundled for the generation and implementation of innovative projects.
Through the cooperation of important Tyrolean service providers from business, science, and interest groups, trends of the future can be recognized more quickly, processed more consistently, and used more effectively for the benefit of Tyrol. (Lebensraum Tirol Holding GmbH, 2022).
